Master Potty Training
with confidence, consistency, and commitment
without rewards, bribes, or punishments.
Certified Oh Crap! Potty Training Consultant (Jamie Glowacki’s program)
Does This Sound Like You?
You’ve been waiting for “signs of readiness/interest,” but as time passes, it seems like your child is not not ready nor interested.
Your child has no problem peeing in the toilet but poops in his pants/a diaper/the floor or vice versa.
You already attempted potty trainining, but your child just wasn’t “getting it”
You know your little one is capable of being potty independent, but your friends, family, and preschool are telling you he/she is too young and you will “traumatize” him/her.
Potty Training Wasn’t Always This Stressful or Confusing.
Between parents’ overbooked and busy schedules, the rise of polarization and “experts” across social media planting seeds of doubt in parents’ heads, and deceptive, multi-bilion dollar marekting campaigns from Big Diaper, potty training is no longer straightforward. But, it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a LOT of noise and flat out crazy myths and methods that are not actually helping our children ditch the diapers for good. Consistency, repitition, and commitment is what will help bridge the gap between your child feeling clueless as to having had peed/pooped to recongizing the sensation of having to go and going to the toilet. It’s the COOLEST process to witness a child master, and people are shocked to find out that children as young as 18 months old (and younger if you dabble in EC), can actually master this. In fact, in 1957, 92% of children were out of diapers by 18 months old, which shows us not only was it possible but it was the norm. While our busy schedules and modern conveniences make this goal more unattainable for some, the sweet spot for going diaper free is really 20-30 months. If your little one is older than 30 months, absolutely do not worry. Every age and stage comes with its own strengths and struggles, and it’s my job to help you capitalize on your child’s strengths while overcoming any struggles. EVERY child is capable of being potty trained in a timely (notice how I didn’t say 3-day), non-coercive, and respectful manner.
My Story
Oh Crap! Certified Potty Training Consultant, Mom, and Podcast Host
Hi! I’m Katherine– a wife, mom of two toddlers, and co-host of Moms Off The Record podcast. I left behind my eight year career in software sales to focus fulltime on motherhood, and I haven’t looked back. There are countless childhood milestones which parents eagerly await, from baby’s first steps and first bites of solid food to her first words. I probably don’t have to tell you which milestone most parents are dreading. That’s right— potty training. Depending on which method you use and your mindset going into potty train, it can make or break you. I am weird in that I find mastery of potty independence to be one of the most exciting childhood milestones our little ones reach. There is a lot of noise and misunderstanding about it, and my passion is guiding parents through all the confusing and frustrating roadblocks, get right back on track, and wrap up the process in a timely fashion and in a way that honors your child’s dignity.
I potty trained my firtborn, my son, at 20 months old and night-trained him the following month. Why? Because I knew he was capable at that age. One of my core parenting values is autonomy, and what better way to pass the baton to your child than to teach them the socialized behavior of where to place their poop and pee just like our predecessors have for millenia before Big Diaper pushed their marketing propaganda in 1962.
People looked at me like I had two heads and told me he’s a boy and they take longer (lies!) and he “wasn’t ready” (more lies!). Since my daughter was born, I have been practicing part-time EC (elimination communication) with her on a daily basis and plan to ditch the diapers full time prior to two-years old just like I did with my son. When my son experienced a lengthy regression once his sister was born after a six-month streak of complete toilet independence and seldom accidents, I ate a big slice of humble pie. Without fail, I tried everything to understand the root cause and reverse his regression to no avail. It wasn’t until I came across Jamie’s “pooping solutions” course that I was able to completely reverse his poop withholding when we thought there would be no end in sight. Once you can overcome poop withholding well after being potty trained, you can pretty much do anything. Trust me.
Although my experience with my own two children entails EC and early potty training, I am no stranger to helping parents who are struggling with potty training their children who are over two years old! In fact, what began as casual conversations at the local playground with other moms who divulged their specific potty training woes resulted in me offering (per their request) creative troubleshooted and pointed advice which led to quick results. After many of these interactions, I had a lightbulb moment— what if I became certified by the OG potty training consultant, Jamie Glowacki, herself, so I could officially help parents give their children the tools to become totally toilet indepedent? And so I did.
When we work together, I promise to help you silence the noise, bring you back in touch with your instincts, and feel calm and confident with a clear, stepwise plan for your child. Whether you have discovered me after multiple prior attempts at potty training or you just need guidance for a specific issue such as poop or pee withholding, wrapping up EC and transitioning to potty training, or reversing a regression, I am in your corner.
Together, we will empower your child to reach their maximum potential with toilet indepdence without sticker charts, candy, time outs, and timers. Let’s do this the right way.
My Approach to Potty Training
I guide families through the potty training process and give them the tools and confidence to reverse any setbacks in accordance with the Oh Crap! Potty Training “Blocks” outlined in Jamie Glowacki’s best-selling book. There are a lot of potty training methods out there nowadays such as the notorious “three-day method,” setting a timer for set intervals, the popular “waiting for interest/readiness” method, and the rewards/bribes method. The Oh Crap! method is none of these. It’s actually a process that is tried and true sans the gimmicks. While I cannot guarantee it will take only three-days (and you should run for the hills if any program is guaranteeing it will), I do know when followed properly (no skipping steps or rushing to the finish line) that it actually clicks the first time. I know from first-hand experience and Jamie’s experience with helping thousands of families in person that this process works when approached in a calm, committed manner, in sequential order! I will help you help your little one achieve this important milestone. We’ve lost our village and elder wisdom when it comes to potty training, and you shouldn’t have to figure this out alone.
You will have the tools and mindset to potty train your little one without offering a single sticker, trip to Disney, or giving them a time out. Trust me, you do not need extrinsic rewards or punishments to see this to fruition. Let me show you how.
As a mom of a toddler boy and girl and consultant who works with parents of toddler-aged children, trust me when I say there is very little you could say that would shock me. I’m not saying I’ve “heard it all,” by any means, however you may be surprised there are quite common behaviors amongst toddlers! We can view potty accidents and regressions through the lens of a reaction to something. During our time together, I will get to know your child’s temperament, personality, family dynamic and life circumstances, hear your goals and concerns, and we will get to the crux of the issue then solidify a clear path forward. My approach is deeply consultative, comprehensive, and results driven. If any of the below are a concern for you, let’s meet!
